Round One Sudbury
Round One Sudbury
Round 1
Mission 4x4 held their first round of the new winch challenge series being held in East Anglia this year, the first being held at Belchamp Walter, nr Sudbury.
Teams from all over the area came to compete in this EXTREME 4x4 event, testing their skills, and nerve, against some of the best terrain East Anglia has to offer.
With the sun shining and a calm frost the trucks arrived one by one to the first round of the season, Sprits high, it was not long before the action started.
With an excellent turnout of 22 teams from as far as Kent they each entered their designated starting section.
It was not long before the first truck ( Team 9 ) was retired due to burning out their alternator and loss of battery power, whilst some had moved on to their second section before you could blink. Team 12 also had to retire early on due to electrical problems.
With a compulsory 30 minutes lunch and time for a natter, the teams were comparing notes, and scores, as to their strategy for the second half of the day.
As their confidence grew and their strength faded the trucks started to show signs of mistreatment, and more retirements.
As the horn was sounded at 4:30pm for the end of the event, most teams were still running, with two teams completing all the sections during the course of the day.
The results were issued and showed an evenly spread field across all the competitors showing the levels of varying experience in this fast growing sport.
Mark, from Mission 4x4, would like to thank all who helped out on the day and for all the people who came to support both him and the crews, and for the input from the sponsors who supported the event.
The next event will be held near Chelmsford, Essex, on the 25th April 2010.
